From the Executive
Parent and Child Foundation (PACF), Ghana, is an NGO that focuses on the protection and promotion of the rights and responsibilities of children. In the past 14 years, PACF has demonstrated that, it has what it takes to remain in the fight to contribute, to making the world a better place for all children.
Many children have had their rights violated; they are exploited and abused daily. PACF’s challenging task to protect and promote the human rights of children, combat human trafficking (of children and women), child labour and its worst forms, migration, prevent child abuse and other child related issues through education is still on course, to ensure that, not only is it the right for every school-age child to be in school, but it is equally necessary for parents/guardians and family members who benefit from PACF’s life and vocational skills training and the economic empowerment training programs to ensure that, the children remained in school to the basic level (Article 25 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana upholds Free, Compulsory and Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) as a basic constitutional right for all children and UN Millennium Development Goal 2015).
It may seem an uphill task, however, championing the course to prevent exploitation and abuse of children has brought on board many players to ensure that, children are not only seen but are also heard, to enable them grow into responsible adults and engage in decent work for a better future.
We acknowledge the untiring efforts of our development partners ILO-IPEC, UNICEF and Winrock International CIRCLE among others. Our collaborators and networks such as the Ghana NGO Coalition on the Rights of the Child, The NGO Coalition on Education, The Ghana Association of Private Voluntary Organizations in Development (GAPVOD), World Association of NGOs (WANGO) and several others, who have been a big part of the exciting times and have contributed to what we are today. What will we do without their support?
It is indeed a great joy to see the children develop, given the right opportunity and with care and support, advocating and participating in decisions that affect them. Children are our future and they need every one doing something. PACF always goes the extra mile. Do you care? We are counting on you to urge us on to do more as we tackle higher grounds in the years ahead, to make more impact in the lives of children.
We plan to continue to support children to go school through the provision of school supplies as a start up package, and provide economic empowerment assistance to more parents/guardians to ensure that, the children remain in school. We plan to continue to campaign against human trafficking, child labour and its worst forms, child abuse and exploitation against children. We will provide support to the child rights clubs and ensure more child participation in decision-making on issues that affect them. Come on board, we welcome you with our smiles.
